OVERCOMING FEAR WITH GOD

OVERCOMING FEAR WITH GOD

, by V4&After LLC, 2 min reading time

Fear has a way of creeping into our hearts and minds, whispering doubts and filling us with uncertainty. It tells us we are not strong enough, not brave enough, not capable enough. But when fear tries to take hold, we must remember the powerful truth found in 2 Timothy 1:7“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Fear is Not From God

Fear does not come from God. It is not a gift He has given us. Instead, He has equipped us with power, love, and a sound mind—three incredible tools to overcome the anxieties that try to hold us back.

  • Power: This is the strength God provides—strength to stand firm, to move forward, and to walk boldly in faith, even when we feel weak.
  • Love: Perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18). God’s love for us is unwavering, constant, and mighty. When we embrace His love, fear loses its grip.
  • A Sound Mind: Fear thrives in confusion and doubt, but God gives us clarity and peace. When our thoughts are rooted in His truth, we find stability in the midst of uncertainty.

Faith Over Fear

The enemy wants us to shrink back, to remain stuck, to live a life ruled by fear. But God calls us to step forward in faith, trusting Him in every circumstance. Think about the many times in Scripture where God encouraged His people with the words, “Do not fear.” From Joshua to the disciples, He reminded them—and reminds us—that He is with us always.

  • When Moses felt unqualified, God said, "I will be with you." (Exodus 3:12)
  • When Joshua faced overwhelming odds, God said, "Be strong and courageous." (Joshua 1:9)
  • When Jesus walked on water, He told His disciples, "Do not be afraid." (Matthew 14:27)

God’s presence is greater than any fear we face. No matter what lies ahead, He is already there, preparing the way and providing the strength we need to overcome.

Living Fearlessly with God

So how do we truly walk in faith and courage instead of fear?

  • Pray – Bring your fears to God and ask Him to replace them with His peace.
  • Stand on His Word – Meditate on Scripture and let His promises fill your heart.
  • Trust Him – Believe that He is working all things for your good (Romans 8:28).
  • Take Action – Step forward in faith, knowing that His power is at work within you.

God never intended for us to live in fear. He has given us everything we need to be bold, confident, and victorious. Let’s choose today to silence fear’s voice and listen to God’s truth—because when we walk with Him, we have nothing to fear.

Let faith lead the way.
